A Milestone in Genomic Surveillance: Genetics Company Supports JCDC with MGI Sequencing Technology:
We are proud to share a significant milestone in advancing genomic surveillance and public health capabilities in Jordan.
In collaboration with the Jordan Center for Disease Control and Prevention (JCDC), Genetics Company for Biotechnology supported the successful whole-genome sequencing of a Candida auris isolate using the MGI sequencing platform. The resulting sequence was successfully submitted to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
This achievement represents an important step toward strengthening Jordan’s capacity to apply advanced genomic technologies in public health, particularly for the early detection and investigation of infectious disease outbreaks, monitoring emerging variants, and supporting national and global health security.
We are especially proud of the contribution and dedication of Omar Lafi, General Manager of Genetics Company for Biotechnology, and Bayan Rimawi, Laboratory Technician Manager , whose support and collaboration contributed to the successful implementation of this genomic sequencing activity.
This milestone reflects the importance of collaboration between public health laboratories and biotechnology partners in building advanced genomic capabilities in Jordan.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the JCDC laboratory team and all colleagues and partners involved in this achievement.
Genetics Company for Biotechnology remains committed to supporting innovation, genomic technologies, and the advancement of public health in Jordan.
